The organization’s team consists primarily of young Afghan professionals and volunteers, with women comprising the majority of its staff and leadership. HOPA has implemented a wide range of humanitarian programs, including emergency relief, food security, WASH, protection, and livelihoods support. In 2022, it transitioned to the HOPA name to better reflect its mission of empowering the Afghan people, particularly vulnerable groups such as women and youth. Our community-driven approach allows us to deliver aid efficiently and sustainably, with a strong emphasis on participation, protection, and empowerment of marginalized populations. HOPA has actively supported returnees and vulnerable populations, including running an education information desk for returnees in Kandahar, assisting with resources for school-aged children at reception centers, and providing shelter and support for women and children in prisons, funded by UN-Women.
